Lead is a toxic metal that was used for many years in paint and other products found in and around our homes. Lead also can be emitted into the air from industrial sources and leaded aviation gasoline, and lead can enter drinking water from plumbing materials. Lead may cause a range of health effects, from behavioral problems and learning disabilities, to seizures and death. Children six years old and under are most at risk.
EPA requires that firms performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities and schools be certified by EPA and that they use certified renovators who are trained by EPA-approved training providers to follow lead-safe work practices. Individuals can become certified renovators by taking an eight-hour training course from an EPA-approved training provider.

Here at Herrick Construction we do what we can to reduce the amount of waste that may derive from the project. In our office, we reduce the amount of paper being used. I cannot express enough for homeowners to be careful. The economy is not doing well and I understand the lower the price is better (so you think). Non-License individuals have no license; worker's comp, general liability, or pay any taxes to the state and city. More than likely the workers are not of legal residents here in the United States of America. The simple fact is its taking away from your own community.
